My favourite 5 Beach Clubs in Bali

Bali is now all about the Beach Club. Think swimming pools, manicured lawns, day beds, private beaches, gourmet dining and hip bars.  Below we look at 5 of the best Beach Clubs and why we like them.

Sundays Beach Club

This has the most spectacular setting of any of the Beach Clubs. It’s located on a private beach at the bottom of a cliff in Uluwatu. You take a funicular down to the white sand beach and can while away the day at the beach club on a sun lounger or day bed. There is a Rp450, 000 entrance fee per person but this includes Rp250,000 food and beverage credit, wi-fi, towel and use of kayak, stand up paddle boards and snorkelling equipment.  The Beach Club serves drinks, tapas, lunch and has a wood fire pizza oven.   They have a massage hut so you can book in for a massage or some reflexology and a boutique so you can do a bit of shopping.

Potato Head Beach Club

This has the best architecture and design of any of the Beach Clubs. Old teak shutters have been used to give the feeling of being in an amphitheatre and in the middle of the amphitheatre is a beautiful lawn, the pool and restaurant, bar and lounge areas. This is a popular place to spend the day- there is the casual bistro and tapas restaurants on the ground floor and a fine dining French influenced restaurant on the second floor. There are plenty of day beds for lounging in, a pool for cooling off and of course the Seminyak beach out front.

Ku de Ta

Ku de Ta has become something of an institution to those who know Bali. It was the first of the Bali Beach Clubs on the beachfront in Seminyak and is still as popular as ever. It can be a little overrun with people at sunset but is still a good option during the day. Lie on the sunbeds, swim at the pool or in the ocean out front, sip a cocktail at the bar and dine at one of the many restaurants.

This is a new Beach Club by the owners of the popular restaurant and bar, Motel Mexicola. It has a cool retro vibe to the place and is beachfront in Seminyak. There are 2 huge pools and 3 bars with an open kitchen. The food is light bites, seafood and wood fired meats. They also have plans to open a restaurant, rooftop bar and eventually a hip but well priced hotel.

Sandy Bay Beach Club Nusa Lembongan

I really love this place. Most of my trips to Bali these days include a few nights in Nusa Lembongan and Sandy Bay Beach Club has become my regular.  They can pick you up and drop you off from your accommodation and my kids think that riding in the back of their truck is one of the best things about this place.

They have a small pool with sun loungers but also have a fantastic beachfront location on Sunset Beach although the water can be rough. Our kids will often play around on the beach while we can watch them sitting up at the restaurant with cocktail in hand. They do fantastic food and jugs of cocktails. We have come both for lunch, dinner and just for sunset drinks. Sunset is a very popular time and bookings are recommended.
